I would put the spare on before using Fix-a-Flat, but given the choice of being out at night with a flat tire, paying $$$ for a tow to an unknown shop, or using FAF, I'd certainly put it in the tires.

Slightly off the current swing of this topic - but I had another of those "Laurel and Hardy" phone calls with my rentor the other day.

I get a voice mail "Debbie, this is Kim, call me back"

I call just moments after her call:
her "Hello?"
me "What's up?"
her "Who is this?" ... we have caller id
me "Debbie. You wanted me to call you?"
her "This isn't Debbie. This is Kim."
long pause....
me "Kim! Didn't you just call me and ask me to call you back?"
her "Oh, yeah."
long pause....
me "What did you want?"
her "Nevermind."

well the chamber fire was not bad at all still took all day to clean, replace all the couplers, door seal and for me to recertify it...
still have to order a muffler for the exhaust on the roof with all the soot it pulged it up once the chamber purged it blow up found parts of it 75' away...

Major, I made the mistake of telling my granddaughter, Gypsy, about your "Squirrel!" usage. She thought that was the best! Now she's using it on me all the time. Makes it hard to keep a conversation going (or keep a straight face).

I have seen that look before! Soot is very becoming on you ;)
Dh and both sons have been sent into pits at body shops, oil change shops, ALCOA and the nuke plant to CLEAN 1st, then paint! OMG> What a mess. The clothes they wore where tossed. I like the coveralls.

oh i hit grainger on the way home goggles, respirators, tyvek suits, gloves.. this was one of the cleaner clean ups....still with the goggles had the jack sparrow look going on with the eyes.

did have to go get a couple rolls of teflon tape the boys down at the parts house had a good laugh.....

remember that g/m that went against the owners rule of no tire sealant allowed.. gone

food was the last thing on my mind, only lots of water...

the chamber vulcanize the tread to the tire casing 98% of all chamber fires is caused by tire sealants used by the customer when you read msds sheet on them the flash point is well above the temperature in the chamber,but that's at ambient air pressure but once you put in a chamber it's a whole different animal.
yes all the cases are dry and clean before they go in, but they is always some type of residue especially if there was any penetration of the casing <nails> it gets under the inner liner of the casing..
once all the tires are inside the chamber gets pressurized to 85 psi at 235* for 3 hours the higher pressure lowers that flash point ,so after a couple hours it boils and
poof you have a flash fire.. there is a fan blowing the hot air inside which helps spread the fire to other tires..

the other 2% something left in the tire, yes the chamber loader is responsible to visually check all tires going in. the other 1% employee sabotage

oh yes hot had sweat rolling down the and the back the chamber was 120 once all the tires were out, had to vacuum out the major portion of the soot before you could run the fan to cool it down...

if anyone is interested be glad to do a "how a tire is retreaded thread" once i get back from warsaw... it's a very interesting process

Too many to even count. We've taken to not calling it "common sense" any longer as it doesn't seem to be too common anymore. It's a rare commodity in today's world as fewer and fewer people value it and so they don't strive to obtain it~or cultivate it in their young.

A couple notable incidents that win over others in my memory are of co-workers and their unbelievable....um....er...oversights?

One older office assistant was noted standing by the copier, busily making many copies of a document. After a good many copies had been made and other people were waiting patiently to use the copier, a curious co-worker asked,

"What in the world are you making so many copies of?"


Now, I didn't make this up...sometimes the truth is just this funny....

Reply? "We are getting low on copy paper, so I'm making more."

Seriously..the lady had placed a blank sheet of copy paper on the scanner and was "copying" more blank sheets to replenish our supplies.

The other story to come.....
