I remember buying an ice-cream cone at Thriftys in northern CA for $.035 cents!!!!

Sodas used to come in glass bottles, deposit on the bottles was 3 cents. I would walk to the convenience store a mile or so away, picking up bottles as I went. I usually got enough to buy a coke, drink it in the store so I didn’t have to pay the 3 cent deposit. Cokes were 10 cents. Sometimes I had a few pennies left over and could get the pink 1 penny bubble gum. I remember wishing for a dollar so I could get 100 pieces of pink bubble gum. Finally I did!
