Location
border, ID/WA(!)
This wasn't an outdoor artifact or I could have put it in that thread. It turned up on top of my dresser this morning rather than in the drawer beneath for some unexplained reason. Her cousin sent it to my mother years ago. It's a postcard and has a 1911 postmark on it (& a cancelled 1¢ stamp). Of course, I have seen it before but, this morning, I especially enjoyed reading the note from my great grandmother to her niece. She was thanking her for a child's dress that she had sent to her for her grandchildren. She sent to the dress on to my grandmother for her oldest child who was just 10 months old at the time.

My grandmother and her husband returned briefly to live in this home and my mother was born at that time.

The home was on the border between ID/WA. A note on the right margin identifies the corner of their orchard. One can just see the barn some distance behind the house. I visited the location 50 years ago with an uncle but couldn't remember where it was when I have made 2 trips to Palouse WA in recent years and headed off on 2 different routes east, I didn't find the same landscape, which was supposed to be only a mile from the town. Better map searching indicates that there are 3 routes east ! Yeah, I'll have to give it one more try sometime.

Me too, @Shades-of-Oregon !

Wait. It was ... it was ... .. oh, yeah. It was probably a grilled cheese.

I remember the root beer floats, strawberry sundaes and slices of apple pie!
In an old Italian café that no longer is in business, we used too have Coca-Cola floats. They were considered a real treat
