Interesting...DH's family name Used to be "Debenham", same as the British chain of stores.
I Thought my father's name was British, but I have come to find it was "Cache" not "Cash", Americanized, and yes, I am a distant cousin of Johnny Cash.
It is French Huguenot and my ancestor settled in Raleigh, NC in 1685.
and pedant has nothing to do with either feet or ants... i was bummed about that when i first read that word and didn't know what it meant (but i did have hunches based upon context).

Blood red makes me think of African Blood Lily, Blood leaf plant . Oh gosh I have to apologize I have plants on the brain… the word association sunk in . And that remind me … I’m out to clean up the leaves of the Blood Red Acer Palmatums before they freeze to the ground.
I came upon "sanguine" from Jane Austin's "Persuasion," when Anne asks Admiral Croft how Captain Wentworth is taking the rejection of Louisa Musgrove. The Admiral answers, "He is sanguine."
