My corn (and everyone else on the ridge for that matter) is coming on early this year. Normally, my corn is ready the 2d & 3d week of Aug. This year I used a earlier type and it should have been ready the 1st week of Aug. But it is probably going to be ready Sunday/Monday. I had a piece for breakfast this morning (I love having a garden) but it wasn't quite ready. A couple more days and it will be just right.

Anyone else experiencing this and any guesses as to why?

Corn and everything else is early here in upstate NY. I attribute it to the extremely warm early spring we had. It really amounted to an extra month of summer. Soil temps were way above normal...And of course, the real reason- mother nature loves to keep surprising us!!!

I've been trying NOT to destroy my push mowers, but one has been in the shop twice in the last 30 days!!!

I don't know what the days to maturity was on mine (Kandy Korn), but I've already harvested them all and we only have a few left to eat! :)

It couldn't be ready soon enough for me. We love fresh sweet corn! This was my first year growing it too.

On mine, the silks were quite brown and dry when it was ready. I peeled back just a little to see how the kernels were developing to make sure.

I am growing Kandy Korn also this year. It is the first time for this type so I looked up the harvest dates when I planted it so I would have an idea when it would be ready.
