I did a google search for the caption and it must have been just the location I was searching for.

It is a popular beach in the Netherlands. There are cabins of various sizes along the beach, which might run for a few miles . . . uh, kilometers :). I finally found the "architect's" website and it seems that he is more of an artist than a builder. He has his creations in front of museums. I don't think I could have imagined something like this but, it makes me smile ;).

Tiny vacation cabin. It could be so small & low that the front part may only be a window seat, or something. There would be some privacy in the back, just because of the distance from windows.

Nah, behind the camera is a carosel and ferris wheel, it runs into the wee hours of the morning. Garbage cans, litter (I'm just making all of this up) squabbling sea gulls . . .

The other side has not one but two glass sliding doors (still imagining) that open onto the deck. The heavy drapes close things off from the eyes of those people who like to take midnight strolls.

The owners are early risers who hurry down to the surf and cast for the "big ones" just as the tide turns! They've been known to climb in their dune buggy and be miles (er, kilometers) away at a quiet beach cafe for a late lunch before the diesel engines for the carnival rides fire up . . . Yes, they especially enjoy their weekday vacations but, what can you do?

Steve, do you have a link to it? I can’t believe the link-master didn’t do that.

To me it looks more like performance art than something practical without the windows, though I could imagine that a really wild week-end or summer party place with that top floor being the bar/dance floor.

I’ve visited the Netherlands and certainly haven’t seen the whole country, but it’s pretty flat, especially on the beach. The trees I saw on the shore have all their limbs on the south side because of that wind coming off the water. That’s the main reason I’d like to see where it is.

If that is on the beach it looks like water comes up higher than that and the bracing doesn’t look all that strong. I wonder if that is why it looks brand new?

Like good art that raises more questions than it provides answers. Nice post.

Here is what I discovered from a google image search (link).

That and clicking on a few of those other images made me realize that there is likely something nearby the little cabin other than sand and sea ;).

Here is the builder's website. You can look at some of the things he has done elsewhere. The place in the trees is an interesting "home." (Link)

It looks like the Dutch have some fun ideas for that beach.
