Things are finally starting to bloom around here. The spirea was started from a stick 3 years ago and the iris is one of many my in laws have given me. The others aren't blooming yet.
Very nice Skeeter! You've got some nice growth on that spirea in just 3 years. I'm a few months from iris blooms, but the ones you gave me are growing, looking forward to seeing them again this year!
Thistlebloom, I'm so glad your iris are doing well! Looking forward to seeing pics!
Katie, mine are almost all neglected as well. The one that's blooming happens to be right by the house, but all the others are growing on a steep bank behind the house in nasty soil. They get watered occasionally but that's about it.
NY, usually we are still scraping ice in the mornings here as well, but this year it warmed up early and fast. Not sure if that's a good thing or not?
Thanks, Baymule. I love iris too. Wish they bloomed for a longer season.
I adore irises, my neighbor has beautiful flower gardens, and I have been waiting for the pleasure of enjoying her irises all year. Well the last week they started to open up, I was ecstatic, the day before they fully bloomed her nutcase doberman DUG UP THE WHOLE BED They were strewn all over the yard, and lots were torn to pieces. I was not happy. She wasn't home so I scolded the dog collected them up and replanted most of them. Surprisingly they fared pretty well and a fair amount of them still bloomed. I was pretty happy about that.
@baymule That depends, do you have beautiful flower gardens that I can come over and enjoy at my leisure without having to participate in manual labor, and do you mind the sound of sheep "cussing"" at you, 6+ dogs, overly friendly cats, goats, turkeys, 100+ chickens including 25+ roosters, screaming geese, and turkeys. If you'll tolerate that then sure thing, I could use the warmer weather.
I would LOVE to have you for a neighbor!!! (and if it gets too hot for you, then garden in the early mornings, late evenings and languish under the air conditioner the rest of the time) Soooo....... @Wishin' when are you moving?
