I just love Iris'. They are so beautiful. I have a few different varieties but they have taken a lot of gruff from the gophers around here. It seems like once they finally get established, the gophers start chewing on the bulbs. I had a variety my grandma gave me that were almost a nuisance because they just took over everything. One day I got mad and dug them all up and threw them in the weeds because they were drowning my peonies. 5 years later those darn things have rooted themselves and are still blooming in the weeds free from gophers. I have ran them over with the lawn mower and they just won't go away. I guess it was meant to be!

Man I wish I ad plants that resilient, we HAD irises, tulips, narcissists and tons of daffodils, the chickens dustbathed them and the ducks ate the tops, and the turkeys trampled them. Now all that is left are a few clumps of daffodils that are quickly dwindling.

@baymule it may take a few days to pack the fam, animals fencing, and plants ;)

Well those irises must have been the last straw, because she has been digging up the hostas, daffodils, hyacinths, and crocus for some time, but the day after the irises, I came over and fancy green 3 foot high garden border fence was surrounding every bulb filled bed

As you can see the roses have gone crazy this year. I pruned them back to nothing in February and they came back with a vengeance! You have to be careful getting to the front door, but I refuse to trim them back right now while they are blooming so beautifully! My hubby is not amused. :hugs
