Chickens are NOT stupid. They just learn things and don't like change. I had to retrain my layers this winter (INSIDE A STALL, AGAIN< AAARRGGGHHH!!!! Next year there WILL be a coop!!) to lay in the old dog igloo, where the eggs won't freeze and crack. They wanted to lay in a corner behind the brooder, so I had to lay down some 2 x 4 pieces to nip it in the bud.
Children just like or are afraid of dogs. My dog, "Rose," likes to lick the face of our neighbor's baby son when he is captive and strapped in his stroller. He scrunches his face, but I think he kinda likes it. In a few years, however there MAY be payback!
I don't ever tell them what my dog chooses to eat outside...
Peteyfoozer, that's funny! Our geese used to try to beat the snot out of our old Great Pyre dog. They'd latch on to her tail and ears, jump on her back... that stupid dog liked it. (I know, I'm cruel.)
Anyways, nice flock of sheep/goats you have there. Good looking rooster also, is he an Australorp? Maybe Langshan?
Seed, he's a Jersey Giant. I love the dispositions on them. The last JG Rooster I had (Mr T) was so good about protecting his girls but he was very sweet around people and never got mean. I was glad to see that his replacement (Cowboy is obviously not his replacement as he actually prefers the sheep to the hens. He never fraternizes with the other chickens.) is just as dedicated and just as gentle.
