Got this vintage Basset chest of drawers at GW for $20. Heavy as lead, just a few dings, but otherwise in perfect shape inside and out. LOVE these heavy old dressers...they were built to last.

That is nice Bee. Over here all the stuff at Good Will or Salvation Army is so over priced. Nothing good even when I'm looking for a piece that I'm willing to repaint.

Last week there was a large matched set of Bassett dresser and chest of drawers, they had them marked $9 and $7. I couldn't believe it!!! If I had had space to take them home and update them with paint and modern hardware, I'd have flipped them...those same dressers are selling for around $500 ea on Etsy.

This GW sees a lot of really nice pieces of furniture come through, low priced for a quick sale. Sometimes I wish I had a shop where I could flip all this good furniture but then I get to feeling bad for thinking of buying donated items and making a big profit off them, so I just slobber all over the vintage and antique items while I'm there and then move along. This set of drawers was something that would fit into a certain space and was needed for clothing storage, so I didn't feel too bad at all about buying it.

Bee, surely you have room for 1 piece that you can redo and sell? You should definitely do it. You're good at it. Don't feel bad about it. Good Will is still making money on donated items and the people who donated them are getting a tax write off. Plus, items are being reused and repurposed and kept out of the landfill.

Funny you should say that, Miss Mary...I've been thinking about maybe doing a few small pieces from GW this winter to keep me moving and doing something when the land is covered in snow...nothing so big as these Bassett dresser sets but maybe some tables and stands.

My DIL lives in town and said I could leave them at her place and she could put them up online for sale or in the locals. It's just something I find to be fun and I see some really good things there every once in awhile...if you don't get them quickly, they are gone when you go again. I think if a person were to update them with some bold colors and more modern hardware, they could possibly flip a few things and it would be fun.
