This looks like a good morning for a walk but I really need to do some shopping for fence boards. I've been to the Big Boxes but not elsewhere. Man! Unless it's food and I'm hungry, I don't like shopping fer nuthin'! Maybe some physical activity will inspire me to where I can get those materials to work with in the newly-cleared carport.

By the way, that carport has never held my car. It's at the other end of the lot from the road. I doubt if the previous owner used it on any regular basis. I didn't even know there was hauled-in gravel under my side lawn until I dug into it to put a flower bed in ..!

I've backed the pickup up to th he carport several times but I'd sure better not do that in these semi-thawed conditions! I mucked up the lawn pretty bad walking between the coop and the carport, yesterday. The Dodge is likely to sink!

Actually, today I was just out in the rain and am at this moment sopping wet...

Had to get our water system prepared for winter today as the next storm is supposed to be a cold snowy one...

...ok i hear the northerners mumbling about what cold is. i know. i lived in montana 21 years, including 1989 with 44 below...

anyhow, california plumbers don't do things right compared to montana plumbers. i sure wish our water system was put in by some montana plumbers!!!

shut off upper line, drain all spigots, the whole shebang. hang on, wringing 5 gallons of water out of my socks...at least i kept my cigarettes dry, and yes, i did the upside down in my pocket trick with my bic lighter in its leather-rubber case...

discovered one of the far bathroom doors needs replacing, totally rotten, so o boy, doors are sure fun for ole neanderthals!!!

Hay Bay, I took a couple photos to prove I haven't been sloughing off completely!

This first one is near the gate. You can see the wheelbarrow full of old bean plants. That was the third load. I stopped and left it there as it was raining on me and getting dark.

This 2nd photo is taken from under the eave of the bathouse to keep rain off my camera. You can see 4 beds are in various stages of removal of the degraded plastic. ...and maybe some of the forest mushrooms that were growing under it, lol! (those don't count as weeds at all. ya oughta see the soil up close, growing with mycorhizae!) us ole california hippies love it when wild mudhrooms grow. i never eat them, not even the morels. i don't consider myself well enough tutored in the art and science of mushroom identification.

ok, and here's a photo of one of the things slowing down my garden chores...

yup, i have a leak around the chimney of my woodstove to take care of, REALLY SOON

@catjac1975, I don't complain about any work DH does . . . to him. It is not his fault we don't have the same 'vision' of garden shed use. He's looking at all the now open area and thinking about what could be moved into that space to open the garage or work shop to more room.

I save my complaining for this site. Letting go of my frustrations by prattling on to ya'll helps me maintain my focus on what's important the rest of the time.

@so lucky, we've discussed this problem together, DH and I. I have all the patience in the world for DH and helping him, and when I seem irritated, it is not at him but at the situation that has affected this wonderful man. The DH I married knew everything, did no wrong, and hung the moon. Working together he became the perfect husband -- for me. It is difficult for both of us to deal with this stranger at times.

Red I meant that as self deprecating humor towards my hubby and me. I know the sadness of dementia and the patience and love required in those times. I did not intend disrespect to you and your husband.

Yep. Wooorkiing! Woodworking.

Marshall's doing his job and playing in the mud. I'm trying not to turn my lawn into mud!

Did my shopping at 3 different places and came out of #3 with 100 fence boards. That's a 50' "start" except, they didn't have the rails I need so it's back to get some tomorrow.

All 100 are stacked in the garage. I'm a little sore but realized the wisdom of @catjac1975 's ways! They stack this cedar outdoors. They're wet and because it has been so warm lately, only partially frozen. I've gotta get these boards now! They are gonna freeze into huge wooden blocks ... hopefully, they will be okay in the garage.

Not a problem. I never gave your post a thought in that direction.

You might have noticed any complaining I did was about DH's different vision of how to use the shed, not about the fact that he did the cleaning and moving. Clayton is a fantastic, self-motivated worker that just won't stop. I could sit and watch him work all day and I often have.

I have alway 'seen' the garden shed as a place to start spring plants and to plant some winter crops inside. The 16 feet of windows seem perfect for that purpose. DH sees the shed as storage for anything that will fit and can be used with dirt. We have clashed for years in this vision and others like it. Of course, DH is always right and in due time I have what I want. That's the main reason I never complain. It might not come right away, but I am spoiled rotten by this guy and in the end we do things my way because he thinks it's what he always wanted.
