ok, here is picture of three gardens including current lily garden.

peppers in foreground looking very beat up. beans (lima beans to the left other beans to the right and behind lillies, climbers on fence), and lily garden.

...

um, sorry for hijack.

:)

other flowers for cutting we like beside spring tulips and daffodils are the zinnias, cosmos and irises. not all of these last very long, but are bright and cheerful. :)

the lillies smell way too much for me to bring them inside. :(

Love zinnia and cosmos as cut flowers. When comes to lily stronger scent the better. I smoke so anything that covers smoke smell A+ in my book

those will knock your socks off they're so strong i can't get close to them. i couldn't even tell you if the purple or the white with red in the middle have scent or both... it's not very pleasant smell to me...

i like both of them for their flowers and tall habit.

i've never fertilized anything in that garden other than the wood chips being used to mulch. so these would get even taller if in very good soil or some extra fertilizer was used.

Long, long ago when we lived in the city, I used to buy cut flowers all the time, but it seems redundant now that I can just walk out into the gardens. One exception is my windowsill collection of tiny vases/bottles in the kitchen. I start out with wildflowers in early spring and pick small blooms from my own flowers as they grow. It gives me a chance to look at them up close while I wash dishes.

I almost always have flowers on the kitchen table. As long as I (or the road side ditches) have something blooming. Then will treat myself with bought flowers in winter. :) Here are just a FEW of my flowers ;)
