When we lived in the city, we had burmuda grass and fescu in clay soil. I would SOAK it down for about three to five days depending on how hard it was, I would check it every day. After it was workable DH would till it deep, as deep as the tiller tines would go. We would add amendments, till, amendments, till. We had the softest most fetile soil. The grass didn't grow back at all. Every new season we would till and add amendments once.

Good news! I went to my local equipment rental place to ask about renting a tiller and ended up taking a part time job there.

I start Monday! I'm renting a tiller from there because my tiller is small and just can't get the job done. When I left there the owner told me that Saturday when I come in to rent the triller he'll give me an employee discount!!!

I'll post pics when the garden is all tilled up. :D
