Cutworm Invasion

I don't know about the toothpicks but I do use woodstick matches. I put 4 or five around the bottom of the plant about an inch away and (knock on wood) I don't have cut worm problems. Plus the sulfur in them does wonders for some of the plants and some dont care one way or another.

I finally got into town and bought my BT, applied it this evening so we will see how it works .

I'm in Minnesota and have never had any trouble with cutworms (keeping fingers crossed but I did plan on using matches anyway.

My question is can you use regular matches rather than the wooden matches?

I would think you would want to use the wooden ones so they hold up better, with watering and such :happy_flower

COgirl, what was your result? Any cutworms left? I just discovered an infestation in one of my 'maters. I pulled 6 worms off today.

The results have been pretty good, most plants are untouched now, I sprayed a total of 3 times. We are getting rain daily so haven't sprayed in a few days. I think sprinkling the cornmeal then spraying it worked the best. I will definately keep the BT on hand.
