Not much of a fan of the greens, but tried the wine and really liked it! Now, I look and the window and see, wine!!! Should I try it? Any tips or tricks? Quite a few recipes out there-but they seem basically the same...Hate to let all those flowers go to waste...

I have no real tricks or such to help you. We are trying dandelion wine for the first time this year. My wife is actually doing most of it. I just supply assistance when asked, like picking (easy) and cleaning (not easy or quick) three quarts of cleaned flowers. My thumbnails were stained for days. The more green you leave in with the yellow, the more bitter the final product will be. It does need a cool place to process and that stuff is still bubbling although it was supposed to quit a couple of weeks ago. When it does finally quit bubbling, we'll rack it and wait a year to try it.

We did use he Campden tablets to kill the wild yeast and sterilize the equipment and will use more when we rack it.

I have no idea how it will turn out, but why not go for it. If your yard is anything like ours, the goldfinches will still find plenty of dandelion seeds to eat even if you pick 3 quarts.
