Yep ~ that sound about right ~ it was like that ~ in some towns ~ near ~ the then ~ farm ranch town or ~ Gardena, California ~ where the folks had our ranch ``` There were open areas between towns ~ quit a distance ~ from town to town ~ no freeways ~ Compton ~ a city to the west became ~ well ~ when out team ( football) was on the bus waiting for our coach ~ a bunch gathered round asking us to get out ~ Jerry Neal ~ our Fullback ~ did get off ~ well ~ I should get off ~ right ~ Jerry would be out there with many unfriendly guys ~ several other guys got out ~ we weren't alone ~ kicking and punching went on ```

Back at school ~ that next Monday ~ coach asked the team ~ who got off the bus ~ did you~ pointing at me ~ Yes ~ I nodded ~ You'r off the team ```

Well ~ he let me back on ~ but ``` broke my heart ~ I was crying all day ```

I haven't thought about that ~ for a while ~ yeh ~ there were places ~ that got worse and worse ```

Years later ~ parts of LA got to ~ you had to be ready ~ if someone had to go there ~ would ask ~ " have to go to woop woop ~ wana come ~ Ralph and Neal n Izenburg are coming ~ Yeh sure ~ I'll put this carborator back on ~ when we get back ```

Jerry go stuck ~ in the back ~ did his lung ~ didn't die ~ I wasn't there that night ~ I was sorry ~ thought I might have helped ```

Secrets?? Take a little walk over to YT and see how many videos are over there done by people from other nations chastising the US for our violence, crimes, mass shootings, etc. The very same nations who are experiencing this current violence right in their own larger cities are on YT telling how stupid Americans are for holding onto their guns, for not having socialized medicine, for racism, for being too patriotic, etc., ,etc.

There are no secrets...they think they know all about America by watching the news.

l Jazeera: The Muckraker

When I first heard that Al Jazeera was establishing Al Jazeera America, I had high hopes for the project. The four American networks (ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC) have been cutting back on hard news coverage for more than 15 years. I recently met with a former boss of one of those networks who was requested to cut his news budget by 50 percent, won a moral victory by cutting it only 25 percent, and shortly afterwards resigned. Neither do I think much of the news coverage on CNN, MSNBC or FoxNews. I hoped that Al Jazeera America might look like the original CNN, founded on the slogan of “News, news and more news.”

At its launch, Al Jazeera didn’t disappoint me. I’m an early riser and at 5 a.m. every morning AL Jazeera was carrying an hour of world news from Doha that let me know what was happening everywhere. The pieces were like the original CNN pieces — well-done packages voiced over by knowledgable reporters. By 6 a.m., I thought it was safe to turn over to local and had my morning’s full diet of the news. But, as Al Jazeera added more staff in the US they dropped the Doha hour and replaced it with reruns of the mediocre Ali Velshi program of the night before. Since then I’ve been occasionally visiting Al Jazeera and I find that much of its programming is dedicated to displaying the shortcomings of life in America.
