Right now is one of the busiest times of the year at work. I have not been up to my house in 2 weeks. My nephew stopped by to use hot tub, he warned me everything not covered by sprinkler is dead !! He said the windowboxs look like their from the Adams Family!! I guess it is almost time for mums

Why is this such a busy time? I would think spring would be the crazy-groomer-season.

eta - sorry your plants became toast. :)

I guess your gardener needs a bit more incentive to water. That is a shame! How did you finally work irrigating the window boxes you had discussed this spring?

What a disappointment. We really need to be onsite to keep an eye on things. Even when we have someone do it for us, they are not as diligent as we are. I always worry about my garden when I go on vacation.

Hopefully any of your perennials that look dead will still come back.
He didn't happen to run a hose on a few dry areas while he was in the hot tub did he?

Boarding is busy clients getting in last trip before school starts. I have asked lawn man many times if he could water, he never does. I could have a wilted plant, next to water supply, he would never think to water it >. Got the tops that turn bottles in to slow water, but haven't been up to house to use

Must start using deep mulch...even in the window boxes, as much as possible. My plants that are mulched right now are lovely, those that are not...not so much. Got to keep watering those every other day....what I need to do is take the time to mulch them, but am so busy right now.

What I've observed about lawn services is this: If it ain't grass, it won't get touched.
There is no such thing as "extra service".
I've got a beef right now with the guy that takes care of one of my out of town clients lawn. The big Ponderosas drop chunks of limbs every time we get a stiff breeze and instead of hauling them off with the grass clippings he tosses them in the beds for me to haul off. So irritating.
He also doesn't turn the water system on in the spring (one of his responsibilities) until I email the owner and tell him the lawn and all the beds are drying up, then the owner has to let him know that it's time to turn the system on. This guy is a professional with lots of clients too. Sometimes I just wonder...
