I ordered some delphinium plants but the catalog does not tell me if I should plant them in full sun, full shade or in between.

thank you!

Don't get them much in the shade - delphinium is terribly prone to mildew.

Protection from the wind is important for the taller varieties.

My Delphinium did well in full sun with light late day shade.
They neede to be staked up to keep from falling over in heavy rain or winds. Good Luckand enjoy.

Mine was in full sun with a fence behind it for a wind break. Did great and didn't need staking.

I don't stake mine either and they do fine. They are in front of the house and are shielded a bit from the wind by the house. They miss the morning sun but get the afternoon and evening sun and I haven't dealt with any mildew issues. I have had them for about 4 years now and they have spread really well.
