Lavender2, I am curious about what kind of craft items you make and sell. Photos?
I am one of those people who get bored making the same thing over and over. Now I have been asked to make more of some items I am tired of. Having a difficult time chaining myself to the sewing machine. :(

@dewdropsinwv -
Most of my sales are pre-holiday, Sept thru early Dec. I do an occasional Spring show, and sell some things from my home through contacts from shows (and I do Memory Bears), but after the holidays the sales slow down. I am at the point now where I need that to catch up!
But you can tell when people start to focus on the next season.

You are smart to go with the trend (owls). The crocheted items that were a hit around here last year were Angry Bird hats, animal themed kids hats (owls, cows, etc.), and those poofy fashion scarves made from that funky yarn (can ya tell I don't crochet :D ) My sister made some football baby buntings that people drooled over (but you have to find someone in the market for baby items), she sold a few. My other sis makes a killing with crocheted fish hats (looks like a fish on your head and I think they are weird :rolleyes:), but they sell for $30-$45!!

@so lucky ... stay tuned... :D

Lavender, me too! (If we are calling the bears the same thing. Made from old clothing, quilts, etc... from beloved family members.) I just delivered 2 for a friend from some of his Mom's clothing. Always busy between Thanksgiving and Christmas. And no I do not ask enough for them. ;) Another thing I never earn much for the hours put in are the chair seats I cane! I think those fish hats are kinda scary weird and so does our dog! He barks hystericaly when anyone puts one on. :hu No other hats bother him?!?!

Oh, I know the feeling well!!! I LOVE to sew, but if you knew how many potholders I have made you would think I am absolutely NUTS! ... well over a thousand, so I just might be! :confused:
My list of items now is pretty long, due to the boredom you mentioned. Some of the things I make I have designed myself, but I will post a few of the things I make, in another thread.;) I am always looking for new ideas too!

ETA : Other thread - :)

Dew, what lovely quilts! You are so talented and it shows. I have quilted, but have not sewn in a long time. I have quilts made by my grandmothers that I still use. A quilt is a labor of love, having one made just for you is a priceless gift. A quilt for your children and grandchildren is something they will treasure all their lives.

Memory Bears! That was what I wanted a few of dads shirts for...but they were gone.
We did find his leather jacket and moms wedding dress, my sister has plans for those.

I hate to add this, but when you offer to sell these items, do any of you carry liability insurance ? I say this as my wife participated at a twice a year "Creators' Sale " sponsored by the City. Someone sued one of the hobby creator participant, so the organizers were forced to require the participants to buy a liability insurance policy. My wife sold all manner of baked and canned goods as well as her knit baby sweaters, hats , blankets, etc.. She always sold out and made a small profit. With the insurance costs, she would be in a rather LARGE LOSS situation, so she stopped this venture.

Do you know what the lawsuit was about? That is a bummer!

None of the shows I have attended require liability insurance, nor have I ever heard of any that do. A few of them require you to sign, releasing the organizer from liability of your items. Most shows do not allow food or perishable items to be sold by vendors unless you have a food permit to process and sell. I have a state tax ID, for paying sales tax, which is all that is required in MN for craft vendors.
