Although , my favorite sandwich is the Reuben. It is hard to find a place that makes a great one. The best around these parts that I have found is at Wadells a sports bar on the south side of Spokane.
:thWE MUST BE RELATED!!!!!! The very best Reuban is local, "The Currier", a restaurant where the owners are now trying to sell it. They serve it with mustard and horseradish sauces. I love to order it with their apple ale.
Better learn how to make it at home.

Love corned beef and cabbage!! Can't figure out why, but I love this and very salty anchovie pizza, even though I am not big on salty foods. It is also good with Brussels Sprouts, as I found out one year when I had That, but not cabbage.
Last year our favorite local eatery, a Pub, didn't serve it and St. Patrick's Day was on a Saturday, their biggest crowd day. It was empty last year. They aren't open on Sundays, BUT next Sunday, the 17th, they are serving corned beef and cabbage, $1.50 beer, and donations to the town's volunteer fire department, so we are eating dinner there on Sunday.
I will buy corned beef next week, when they start clearancing their stock.

And by the way, @AMKuska, what do quarters have to do with corned beef? I hadn't heard that.

My mother connects things in the vaguest of ways. Corned beef is something you eat on St. Patricks day. St. Patrick's day is associated with luck. If you stick quarters in your cabbage you'll be lucky. Thus how I was confronted with a plate of change and asked to take 3 bites. >.<

My first Reuben was in 1980, when I was pregnant with my firstborn. A wonderful Jewish deli in my neighborhood made them. They also made some delish baked beans, Kugel Pudding, and sold some local Cream soda in glass bottles. I miss those days :hit:hit
