Well Joan, the Louisiana state wildflower is the Louisiana iris (Iris giganticaerulea).

But, if you like Rusty Pony maybe you and Renee would like the "other" Louisiana iris:

I thought of doing this years ago, and unofficially my acreage is called Aschenhof. I came up with this as a means to honor my German heritage, it means "Ash yard" because most of my trees are Ashes. Well, at least they will be until the emerald ash borer gets here, then I guess the name will be commemorative.

Well, our names are Joan and Joyce,(we are identical twins) but Joyce goes by her middle name which is Renee. Native plants are Louisiana Iris and a Magnolia we planted a couple of months ago. We have oaks, but not the majestic Live Oak, sweet gums (that we hate) Our "southern" but non-native are crepe myrtles and azaleas.

The only Copper Iris in cultivation that I see listed is "Bayou Bandit." And, this species of wild Louisiana iris sure seems obscure altho' it appears over a fairly wide area, geographically.

I suppose that following this theme wouldn't work: "Bayou Bandit Twins?"
