Well, acclaim it here!

If the most dangerous critter in the garden is a gardener dragging a hose - I've got an important skill !

No brag - just fact. Yep, I can do a pretty good job getting an unwieldy hose up and down the paths with limited threat to the tender plants crowding in from the sides.

The primary water for the smaller veggie garden and my cutting garden has not been turned on yet - so I don't have enuf pressure to run more than one hose at a time. That means I can't turn on the sprinklers. Dragging the hose around with a watering wand is tedious but until that water comes on, it is the best choice.

And stakes at the ends of the paths to help control the hose - I had a total of 2 and wasn't willing to move them around on about a dozen paths or drive the 4 miles to pick up more. It was get my hose lined-up and proceed with caution.

I've been completely around twice - took about 2 hours, each time. I only "smacked" one bok choy plant in the process and that plant may survive with only a broken leaf! It has come from experience and causing some real trouble in the past. I'm rather satisfied with myself for having learned this skill.

DW is skilled at being "empathetic" with the plants. Her: "Oh, there's something wrong with that one." Me: "Where?"

Some gardeners recognize pests from one side of the garden to the other - and know what to do about them. Some folks have the timing down tight. Some have amazing memories. Cultivating . . . trellising . . . design . . . preparing for the table . . . I know there are lots of skills out there.

Go ahead and brag on yourself a little - you deserve it :)!

I can accurately pitch a forkfull of manure or compost into a muckbucket, or onto a comparable size target, from 12-15' away, does that count?

And I'm getting fairly adept at pulling up quackgrass/twitchgrass/whatever such a long section of runners come up along with it.

Hey, everyone's useful at SOMEthing, however small :p

Pigheaded persistence in the face of adversity? Is that a skill? "It didn't work the last five times, but THIS time I'm gonna do XYZ and maybe that will help." You know, XYZ, which comes after Plans A - W have all failed miserably...

I can make tomato cages or pepper cages (or eggplant, whatever you need it for) out of reinforcement wire with a certain tool I found in the attic (Its a pair of tin sheers I think) in less then 2 minutes.

Hubby times me... after the first 3-4 they went so quickly. So if you need 20 of them in a rush... gimme a call.

I'm good at conceptualizing layouts. If you look at the layout I planned for our garden (I made one on the computer), it's almost exactly what the garden looks like now. We added a few more plants than I expected, but other than that, the fence is just as I designed it, and the gate, rain barrel, herb garden and veggies are all in their spots. :clap

I have a new, fenced-in area I've designed on the computer for the day my husband finally gives in and lets me dig a pond. When he does, I'll be ready. :fl

I can take cuttings of most plants I try, EXCEPT (so far) CLEMATIS

I get 95% success with them. I've been able to do it since I was a child so I take it for granted. I intend to conquer the clematis problem because it really BUGS ME!!
