Now that three of the goats were sold last week, (they are now lawnmowers on over 1200 acres about an hour south of here), the head goat "Shortnin" is thinking she has to reestablish her position in the herd for some reason.

I took these photos the other day after milking.

Here she is getting ready to head butt Shadow.

Here they connected, it is very gentle butting action. But I was surprised to see her rear up like that.

Here are Ducky and Countess watching the show.

Funny this photo reminded me of an old one I have of Spartacus when he was a pup learning to catch a frisbee. Same type of "flying ears" ...

I cropped and lightened the photo a bit.

Probably, Shortnin' has no desire to hurt Shadow.

The rearing part of it is likely to be the most fun for her. Not the crashing into another goat . . .

Female goats are fairly intelligent creatures. And, age adds brain cells rather than takes them away.

Now, if these goats had normal ears like on a French Alpine:

Looks like they are having fun. My two old does are always going at it, they can't decide between them who is the queen. And I think they just like to play too, they will wag their tails the whole time they are "fighting".

I love the flying ears, that is too funny. You've got some good looking girls, I am partial to black and white ones. :) I bred to a black and white buck this year hoping for some babies that color.

Shortnin' is constantly butting the other goats in the side when she is at the feeder and wants them to leave. Over all they get along very well.

Well, I suppose if they had Alpine ears, they could look like they are "flying" all the time!

Lovely goats.

It's fun to see them head butting and playing. They certainly know who is queen in my herd.
