I feel for you. We have one of those Velcro dogs. She'll injure herself to try to get to us if we are separated. She's basically my wife's shadow around the house. She's usually not to bad in her crate so we can at least leave the house without taking her with us. She does not come close to liking other dogs as much as being with one of us.
She also has storm anxiety. Sometimes it seems the storm doesn't even need to be on this side of the Rocky's or Appalachians to set her off. She really loses it. This is when she has to be medicated, whether she is in her crate or with us, for her protection.
No suggestions, no advice. Just I feel for you.
