Thank you, Steve. I didn't intend to have anyone worried about me.

Okay: My ICD replacement surgery on Monday, June 27th went well. I was walking out to the car within an hour of the operation and driving to lunch with Spouse an hour after that. I spent most of the rest of that day and the next sleeping -- I guess my body needed rest. But, except for the itchy incision, I feel better than before.

With the terrible news bobm shared, my experience seemed a non-issue and, with the computer problems I've been having, I haven't been on much and just didn't think to say anything. I guess I figured that my being on the site at all was notice that I was doing okay. I'm a tough cookie when it comes to letting such things as hospital trips get me down.

Not okay: Having the Sheriff bring an errant Spouse home from his 4 walk-about yesterday was much more distressing. Spouse said he was "just walking around the block", but our country block is 4 miles around. He was tired and disoriented well before he got a full two miles.

Luckily, people living near his walk stopped him, gave him water, and called the police since his answers were not reasonable. We stopped back to thank the 'neighbors' and Spouse was able to explain how to get there and how to complete the walk home. Still, I now have a new problem. He's never been one to wander.

I was so glad he had his wallet with ID, but need to get him a Silver Alert bracelet in case this happens again. Phooey! This is tough and tougher than I ever expected.

Red, good to hear you are ok. & good to hear that hubby had someone watching out for him when they noticed he seemed lost. someday they will make those med alert bracelets with a GPS locator for those situations.

I'm glad also that you had a successful non eventful surgery and are even feeling better.
Thank God for kind neighbors too. :hugs

They do as a matter of fact, and that's an excellent idea Chickie. Red, you can google "medical bracelets with GPS" and research it if you haven't already got information on them.

I took part in a senior liberation when I was a teenager. I was so pleased with my helpfulness that I told my mom when I got home. After she calmed down she called the police...
What happened was, as I was driving along a busy 4 lane road on a sweltering day I saw an elderly man sitting in the shade of an overgrown bush next to the road with his thumb out. I pulled over to see if I could help and he said he needed to go to the bus station. It seemed funny to me that he was wearing something like hospital scrubs, but didn't want to be critical of somebodies choice of clothes.

I asked him how to get to the bus station as I had never been, and we proceeded on a wild goose chase. I can be slow, and it took me a few beats to realize this old fella didn't have a clue where the bus station was, so I asked him if I could drop him at a mall that I knew had bus service. We went there, I dropped him off and wished him well and went home.

Turns out he had wandered off from the nursing facility up the driveway where I had found him sitting. They were frantically searching for him. The incident ended well, the police found him safe at the mall and he was reunited with his caretakers. And I learned something important about elderly people.

:hugs I had noticed you were posting less, but still around. I did forget you were having surgery now that you mention it. Glad to hear it went well!

Your poor hubby. It has been so awfully hot out for much activity. They make many different styles of those gps trackers. Maybe you can get him a nice looking one that also functions as a watch.

Red, I am glad your surgery went ok and more glad that you got your husband back home. How scary! When my mom lived with us, I wouldn't let my husband oil the squeaky hinges on the front door. They alerted me that Mom was opening the door. She took off quite a few times and I had to go chase her down. I only had a small yard in the town, you have 30 acres. I like the GPS bracelet idea.

How scary that must have been. I too have seen you post but know how busy you are with your husband. Thank goodness nothing happened and all is well.
