Heard about it on the news this morning. Strongest hurricane ever measured, not necessarily the strongest storm. THEY said it compared it to a past typhoon in strength. Still, it is expected to drop well into 18 inches of rainfall -- so expect mud slides and flooding along the Mexican coast. Rainfall from this storm is predicted to move into Texas and Louisiana as well.

Perhaps Southern California will get so much needed rainfall as well? Just not the mud slide and flooding variety.

It looks to me that the eye of the storm is quite small.

Perhaps that means the seriously destructive winds will have a narrow path inland.

I'm sure everyone is hoping it doesn't have a direct hit on a populated area. Puerto Vallarta has over a quarter of a million people who call it home. It must have a huge infrastructure as a tourist destination, as well.

P.V. is one of our favorite places to visit. Last year our other favorite place, Cabo San Lucas, got hit hard and we had to cancel our trip. We missed it by 2 weeks! When we returned in June, all of the palm trees were much smaller. They were replacements for the full grown ones that didn't make it. Airport was new and al of the hotels were repaired. But I'm sure outside of the tourist areas people were still suffering.

I was just at the grocery store talking to a woman who was sending $100 dollars to her daughter to stock up on food.

Hurricane Patricia made landfall with winds of about 165mph, the Weather Service says. Landfall was about 2 hours south of Puerto Vallarta at Cuixmala.
