How might UPS use drones for delivery? Send them out from a central warehouse? Maybe not.

By the way, if you first see a advertisement with a person paragliding, that is not the drone video ;). But, if you wait for the ad to finish, you will see some of how UPS is testing drone delivery. The text is the written part of the story. I missed the video at first:

Looks like something the ol' redneck boys around here would shoot out of the sky. ;) I think drones are creepy and an invasion of one's privacy in a big way. It's a way of trespassing on someone's land, casing what they may have, without ever having set foot on the place.

A little about the photographer: (LINK)

Steve

Here's a perfect example of an invasion of privacy....those poor whales are obviously paired off, in water by themselves and wanting a little private whale time. Then along comes this voyeur on a paddle board and another one from the sky! :D

Well, I registered my drone today with the FAA. It was quick, easy, and free, for those who register within the next 60 days. The registration is good for three years and then will be five dollars for each three year period. The government says the fee is for maintenance on the registration system, and applies whether you register your drone or an Airbus 320.
We all know it is just another form of taxation. I am in fact glad to see it happen, as a local county wanted to pass legislation that would prohibit drones, and all other model aircraft, from being flown in the county. Now that the drone is registered with the Federal Government, and they have jurisdiction over its operation, the county is up the creek with their legislation.

The FAA issued a number, which must be on the drone, and a certificate of registration which must be with you when flying. It can be a paper copy, or electronic version. You may not operate your drone on overcast days, or out of your sight, unaided by anything other than corrective lenses, or at night.

Here are the some of the rules you must follow:

  • Don't be careless or reckless with your UAS
  • Fly below 400 feet and remain clear of obstacles
  • Stay away from other aircraft at all times
  • Keep your UAS within your sight
  • Don't fly near airports, stadiums, or other people
  • Don't fly under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • Keep away from emergency responders

Nothing in those rules about buzzing other people's property and homes, is there? We live out here in the boonies to get AWAY from folks, so when people can just buzz over your land and take pics and vids of you anyway, it kind of defeats the purpose. We really have nothing to hide but like to think that, if we did, we could have the privacy to do so. ;)

DJI recommends that you learn to fly on an inexpensive drone before using a large one. It is better to crash a thirty dollar drone than a thousand dollar drone. Even Miss Ava has a drone. As for me, I have flown several small drones for quite sometime before I graduated to a DJI.

That little drone there seems to be a cute little PINK drone....a few shades darker it and could be fuchsia.

Just ribbin' ya, Jack. :D

I can count the raspberry plants in my neighbor's backyard on Google satellite view.

There are technological ways to protect privacy that Google employs for Streetview.

Of course, we have all seen some of the "candid" shots ;) but I'm sure their "blurring" technology could be required even for body cameras that they use at times.

It would take government intervention to enforce the requirement.
