I know most people are like @ninnymary and do not like drones. I am one of the people who like and use drones. Used with a little common sense, they make an excellent platform for taking photos that otherwise would not be possible to take. I took this photo today at the Grafton Lakes State Park. A few short weeks ago there were hundreds of people at the park, and I would not think of flying my drone. Today, I had the entire park pretty much to myself to do some photography. (One of the benefits of being retired) If one nutcase does something stupid with a drone, it makes news, but there are also thousands of people who use them sensibly every day.

From the photo you can see that Mother Nature is dipping her paint brush into the bucket getting ready for the fall display.

Jack, what a beautiful photo! You can really see the trees turning color from up high. I can tell you love and enjoy taking photo's and it is a passion of yours. What kind of camera do you have if you don't mind me asking?

The camera is a Neewer 1080P WIFI Sports Camera, which is a Go Pro knockoff, at a third of the cost. That said, I have a Go Pro, but I like this camera better because the lens angle is not as wide as the Go Pro, plus it has features that my Go Pro does not have.

I agree with you up to a point. So what would you recommend as a sensible way to eliminate the jut jobs that fly their drones into airport air space, the waco paperazi that take a photo at any cost on private property, the bad guys that case businesses and private residences before they do ahead with their crime, the peeping toms, just yesterday on the local nightly news in Portland, Ore. where 3 bad guys stole a dozen high priced drones from a business that was selling them, and list goes on... ??? :caf

The point is, the same happens with firearms. You can ban, or legislate them, but it is not going to stop the nut jobs. They have been around since the beginning of time, and will continue to be. Guns kill more people than drones my friend. It is not the technology, it is how you use it. It is not practical to say that because a tiny segment of the population misuses something, then it should be prohibited.

What I find interesting is that cameras have been available to put in gas powered planes since I was a kid.

Now we call them drones and everyone gets excited.

Side note, if anyone flies over my place, I may use it for practice since I'm such a bad shot, need practice. But only if I'm in mood for target practice.

A local man flew it over farmers field that he was shelling. Told farmer it was expensive and to look for it. Farmer told him his combine was expensive and if it went through his combine and did damage, he'd find out how expensive. Guy went on frantic search...

The FAA considers drones UAVs, unmanned aerial vehicles, or, civil aircraft the same as any other aircraft. The penalty for shooting at one is twenty five years in prison, just like any other civil aircraft. There are regulations in place for their operation, like altitude, proximity to airports and people.

Not sure you meant it the way the media presents it, but guns do not kill people any more than butcher knives, baseball bats, or ball-peen hammers kill people. WIthout the "human"(?) element, they are merely tools. Any tool can be misused.

Just say'n.
