Duck weed is pretty amazing. It seems to multiply from out of nowhere!

The last time I tried a little duck weed grow op, the ducks broke in and snarfed it all down. It so happened a frog had come and laid eggs in with the duck weed and we had some tadpoles growing in there. Well, they didn't last either. :(

My first batch froze. The second batch fell prey to Bungie. He had a growth spurt and I didn't notice how tall he had gotten...LOL

The last batch I just thought there was something wrong with me that I couldn't get one of the most invasive species of water plant to grow in my pond :p

Quick update...

I planted beans in a bed in the front yard one full month before I planted the beans in the back yard in the duck water. The plants in the front yard only grew about a foot tall. I barely got any beans and the plants look really sad. The duck poo plants are sprouting beans and new flowers like mad. I harvested a bunch today and ended up just sitting by the planters eating them by the handfull. Well, the ducks helped a little :D

I also had a globe basil plant in the ground that hardly grew and my duck water basil went mad. Iknow a lot of it is the nutrients in the water, but also having that little water moat to keep the evil bugs off the plants has helped SO MUCH!!! The only issue I have is the ducks grabbing anything that peeks through the poultry netting or that they can reach when they poke their bill through and scarfing it down :p

I can't wait to expand this system next spring. I want to add at LEAST 3 more trays for a total of 5. I have an old strawberry pot I never use because it dries out too fast. That shouldn't be a problem if it is sitting in running water all day...so it might be reborn as a cucumber pot!
