Interesting...I didn't have the energy to plant my baby peach tree very deep, so I went wider, so...according to THIS guy, I did a good job.

just don't forget that you'll be watering it during any prolonged dry or hot spells. you want some roots able to get down deeper for those times. is your subsoil going to let roots get down in it easily enough that the peach tree can do that?

I am certainly learning a lot about how to kill seeds!! Good thing that I have a lot of parsley seeds bc I have had to reseed my indoor setting one.more.time.
This time I took it out of it's large ziploc bag, and opened up the lid. I killed off the two sprouting parsleys seedlings bc I drowned them. kinda like this...:hit
I planted a sample packet of Chervil (French Parsley,) and, since it's on top of the fridge I will check it every few days, still knowing that parsley takes FOREVER to sprout. I.am.determined.
Funny how powerful a "period" can be.

@flowerbug, I am NOT worried about my peach tree and the subsoil. We live one hour north of where the glaciers stopped, and we have rich soil, plus this little tree has doubled in size since I planted it. I guess what I really meant was I couldn't dig Quite as deep as I had intended, but it was deep eNOUGH for this tree, and I dug a lot around it, I had had it in a pot all summer, but I loosened up all of the roots, and therefore I agree with the tree guy, to give the roots plenty of loose soil to spread sideways, too.
I have asked my DD's to locate me the canvas shelter halves. I have to cover it tomorrow night, 30 degrees for a low, and the plastic tarp isn't heavy enough to stay on, but the canvas tent IS.
DD's put up most of our CW canvas tents 3 years ago to assess their conditions.
We dubbed it the "D. family CW Reenactment."
Then, they both carefully folded them all, bagged up the stakes, stored them in large storage tubs and put them in my SW "attic" cubby hole, safe and dry storage.
Good organization, but now, only they know where everything is!
