OMG half the country is on snow storm alerts. Power outages, highways closed. Tree fallen on homes etc. This is a massive disaster covering many states. One issue after another. Watching weather reports is difficult and heart breaking.
Sending blessings to all those in harms way. 🙏🏽

Surgery is now set for July 10th! I am SO EXCITED!!!! :weee :weee :weee
I cancelled my Monday PT appt. bc we hadn't plowed ourselves out yet. Also, both PT's and surgeons gave me a stern warning to NOT fall this winter!
I guess if I fell on the 6 inches of snow it wouldn't matter much BUT I bought more ice melt, just to be sure and bc DD's, who made all of this Possible, were totally out of it.
Don't tell DH BUT, when we put away the 20 lb bag in my garage's 12' long cabinet, I discovered that I already had two 50 lb bags stored. ...ooops...
I use ice melt liberally. I used it on the sloping sidewalk to the side door yesterday morning and it had cleared and dried all of the snow left there from the snowblower.
I bought 4 packages of ice melt, gave 2 to DD's, stored one in the garage and refilled my little "ice melt trash bin", one of those small plastic trash cans with a lid that pops up, and I keep it by the side door for easy access.
I had what was left in an old ALDI bag with handles. It will go downstairs today to be used by the back door.
I got an appt. with the Vet who has a scope so that we can figure out why Eva is so snotty. My Vet found that she has a back molar that is infected, so if this Vet (who she recommended) can scope Eva and take out the tooth, I think she will find some relief, although Eva doesn't act sick at all!! When DD's feeds the horses, she plays with her and Eva does "suicides", running to house and back to DD several times and running in circles.
I really think that she cracked a tooth on one of her bones.
Anyway I will know more at the end of the day on the 20th.

I’ve watch the storm warnings, it was going to sweep Texas all the way down to Houston but the wind patterns changed and lifted it to just above me. It’s been in the 20’s at night, up to 40’s daytime. The rest of the country has been getting slammed.

Stay safe and keep using your secret stash of ice melt!

Good news on your next surgery!

THE GREAT JANUARY 2025 SNOWSTORM, in My neck of the woods...
We got 6 inches of snow from early Sunday through puffs of snowflakes even into Monday evening.
Since we had some sun today AND I was forced to take my phone with me to the barn I grabbed some shots of the aftermath.
These are the photos of what my friend cleared out with my snowblower Monday afternoon. Although I still need to leave the back door and walk through the snow past my tarp covered grill and around the inside of my tarp covered picnic table, past my brand new composter (!!!), I have a clear path to the barn, so it will harder to fall!

Can't see this in the first photo, BUT, you can tell when your heated hose is working bc there is melted snow around it in the yard.

Chuck Vogt's Seed Starting Schedule (Professor Emertis, University of Illinois,
Do you have a link to this? I tried googling this man, but all that came up was some Charles Vogt, YouTuber Pizza Chef! 🤭 (And 3 hits for your journals here on TEG! 👍🏻)

I want to bookmark it in my gardening folder.

Ha HA!! Nope! The story goes that Everybody in the University of Illinois College of Aces had Heard about his Seed Starting Schedule, even Asked for it.
Chuck goes on Mid American Gardener 2 years ago with the New host (ess) and just GIVES IT TO HER and all of us!!
Everything I posted is the sum and substance of the thing. Nothing else to research. No website to go to.
He is retired, and a Master Gardener, sends seeds to Seed Savers and grows things like broomcorn, and harvests thousands of seeds from other vegetables just because he likes it.
