Hi!!! I'm Jacy and nuts for Epiphyllum's... They are brand new to me and I'd like to start a forum about what they like... I.E. watering, fertilizers, how to winter them..

I know how I grow mine. Total, but benign neglect works wonders here in South-est, central-est Wisconsin.
The red is from earlier this spring.

I once had 26 assorted epi's, but DS moved them into the garden shed while the sun room eaves were being redone and they froze the first night.

Now, please begin telling us all the things I've been doing wrong. I'd like to think I knew proper care even while I realize I'm not likely to un-learn my bad behavior at this date.

How sad that they froze... The ones in the pictures are stunning... Maybe I should just set mine out on North side of house and ignore them... I've been accumulating quite a few...

Yup! That occurred to me after I hit post. Iff'n you're looking to me for help, it's a case of the blind leading the blind here. I am great at trading for epis and starting epis from cuttings, but not so good at remembering they need a bit of care now and then.

I believe it is the threat of dying of thirst that sets them to blooming. I've grown them outside a few summers with nary a flower. The ones that did flower were either under the eaves or in the sun room.

We have a varied and knowledgeable gang of gardening friends here. Someone will chime in with the proper care.

Thanks... Everyone I have right now are recent acquisitions.. I really jumped in with both feet and then some.. right now. 10+.. with more coming... Trying my hand at rooting cuttings... Probably 10+ different Epi's that way...

The members here are very good at sharing, trading, and gifting plants to gardening friends from time to time. I have another trading site that I use. If it is alright with @Nifty and @sumi, I could share that URL with folks here.

Can't do it otherwise. Ya'll know I'm not a trouble maker.

Yeah, that's great!!! Right now I'm overwhelmed with Desert Roses... I bought some really small ones right before I decided to try growing them myself... Uffffff!!!! I probably have at least a dozen really small ones...
