;) Hey Everyone !!

I'm here in NC, the weather on the other hand is not so good. Its been unusually cold here lately, about 20 to 30 degrees below normal. The ground is frozen solid don't know how, if I'm going to get those bulbs in. The order didn't arrive yet but i hope it starts to warm up around here, I think Friday its going to rain maybe that will help to thaw the ground up a bit.

Keeping my fingers crossed for mother nature to let me plant some bulbs. :fl

Fingers crossed! Certainly has been a strange winter for you "southerner's"! I am sure you will have a thaw-hopefully soon!

I planted daffodils, hyacinth, grape hyacinth and Iris this past fall but we have a problem.
It's been so mild here we're actually getting RAIN! So my bulbs are coming up! Should I throw more dirt on top of them?
Our winters have never been this mild, once November hits it's usually snow till the end of March at the earliest.

It seems to me that once a bulb breaks dormancy there isn't any way to keep it from going back or slowing down. You could try covering them, but they may just end up rotting. Maybe you could bring a few into the house in a pot so you could enjoy them, in case the rest expire.

I've never lost a bulb, if it started coming up early. They just kind of sit there, until spring and then do their thing. I've never had them come up more than a couple inches though. I'm sure winter will be there soon!

:frow Hi Everyone!!

I'm back from NC, I came back Thursday to be honest i didn't really wanted to come back. But you realize you could always come back next time. I had such a great time there, went to visit family and help out with my parent's property. I'm very pleased and happy I got all those flower bulbs planted, I was so worried the ground wouldn't thaw out in time before I left. :) But yeah everything worked out well after all. This was my first ever planting on our property there so i can't wait maybe come spring I'll be busy planting other things like trees, etc. I took some pictures of the flower bulb bed I'll get some posted up soon.

Glad everything worked out for you! That will really make something to look forward to when your bulbs are up and blooming. :ya
Thanks thistlebloom !! ;)

I hope they'll all bloom. I made sure to add some topsoil since their's so much clay in the ground. I went to Lowe's and got 5 bags of this topsoil that has some peat moss in it which i know should help with the drainage. Before i planted them all i made sure the soil was light and airy for good drainage. I spent about 3 days getting all those bulbs in. I'm sure it will all be worth it come spring :fl
I planted some daffodils around where i planted the tulips and some lilies to protect them in case some deers show up, maybe the daffodil will convince the deers to go away. I could always put up a net or something in case deers are a problem but i hope not.
I've never really seen a deer on our property but I'm not there all the time. Someone i know who lives across from our property occasionally sees some deer every now and again. Hopefully i planted them all well and will be rewarded with blooms soon.
