Dont know about anyone else, when I take shredder to garden, it's a sad time and garden time is over. Did seed some turnips. Hated to shred the okra and what was left of everything else.

I agree, a sad time indeed.... but, after a long winters nap- we will be ready to do it all again!

I'm getting ready to seed some winter wheat. I do have some fall stuff in, but I'm actually glad to be done with tomatoes, peppers & other summer veggies. I'm ready for the change. At least until the depths of winter when I'll be praying for spring again.

Even though I'm lucky that my season is still hanging in there, I'm already chomping at the bit to see next year's seed catalogs. I guess it's my old 9 ball playing days back during the early part of the bronze age. Ya don't play for the shot you have at hand, ya play for 2 or 3 shots ahead. I have been thinking about next years garden all season, and even thinking for the winter after that.

Nearly 300 dahlia plants . .

. . with frost-killed, black leaves all the way to the ground. It was a sad sight. Now . .

. . that I've cut the dahlias down, I can again see the fence that the neighbor's dang mastiff has nearly destroyed.

I was wondering if it was too late to plant winter wheat....I need to get some in. Does yours germinate well at these temps?

I love fall garden clean up. After battling weeds all summer, I am usually relieved to see a blank canvas. Better luck next year! :p

My plan is to leave my garden as is and let the chickens in, after the peas and greens are done. They seem to love the stalks and supports left there; it kind of gives them security, I think.
No, it's not that I'm too lazy to clean it up now. It's not that, no. What? me lazy??:p

My garden is still growing but its starting to slow down! , I am hoping it will last until the end of the year. I do feel sad when one plant at a time dying . But I do need a break from them !
