Deeply Rooted
Now that I have the new run chicken safe, we decided to spend some family time with the birds. The run still has a lot of work to be done, but the chickens love the space.
First, here is the new roost. It's only 18 high right now. When they get older I will raise it to 36 and install the poop board:
And a shot of the run. The table is just something to give them shade. In phase 2 of run construction, I'm putting a metal roof over part of the run. In the mean time, I'm building another table. The wood is from the coop demo, repurposed into shade structures...
Now on to family time with chickens...
This is my youngest daughter JB. Cinnamon, the fearless lap chicken was paying a visit:
DW and JB sharing out some dried bread:
This chicken doesn't have a name yet. I think she like me though:
Told ya so:
DW and her lap chicken, Cinnamon:
Momma and the flock:
Of course, Cinnamon has to be in her favorite spot:
I think they were playing king of the hill. They would climb up one after another and try to knock each other off:
Finally, it was time for one last dash around the run before bedtime:
We all had a pleasant evening socializing with the chickens and laughing at their antics. They really do have different personalities. They all seem to get along great though. So far, so good!
