LOL I am feeling a bit better about the garden tonight. I think I just needed to have the "poor me" moment this morning.

We did get 2 tomato plants tonight. They're Homestead tomatoes so we should be able to save the seeds for next year. I already stated to the hubs that this winter we're going to start getting all of our peat pots and whatnot so that way we can be ready at the BEGINNING of the planting season next year!

If I have one of the seeds that we started make it, I will be more than happy!

We also got some of that Miracle-Gro Garden Feeder spray thingamajigger and some refill as well. I'm really hoping that I can get these lil fellas turned around and get some prudy plants out of it!

We've been watering about once a day, sometimes more if the soil doesn't pass the "knuckle test." Tho I think hubs tried to drown everything this evening!! Apparently the instructions on the Miracle-Gro say to water first... so he REALLY watered them and THEN used the stuff!! LOL I love my husband... but sometimes I think he really wants to kill my garden!! HE thinks that if a little water is good... then A LOT is better! I guess it's not going to hurt it too much in this heat... and watering in the evening will let it get a nice soak into the ground before the sun evaporates it all!

I've tried on and off to get tomatoes started from seed for FIVE YEARS now - and this is the first year everything has turned out right (so far). Timing of seed starting, no damping off issues, got them hardened off okay, and now growing great! So I definitely dont consider tomatoes "easy" especially here in Montana :)

Oh golly! LOL

I've never really had a problem getting things to grow for me.... until now! My Money Tree that we got when we moved into the house that was growing like a weed... I set it outside to get some sun... now all but the very tippy top leaves are gone! LOL It's funny... but not! This wasn't even recently! It was a bit windy that day... but I didn't think it was too windy for it to be outside!! It looks all funny with these long stems and only a handful of leaves!! :gig

. . . There hasn't been a high less than 90 for going on 2 weeks I would guess!

I HOPING that the heat has just stunted them... :fl :fl
Ouch!

No plant can grow at too high of a temperature. What that temperature is, depends on the plant.

85F is often given as the upper level for many plants. The Weather Service stops counting their Growing Degree Days when the daily average is 85 or above.

That's the daily average so if the high is pushing 100 and it doesn't cool down a whole lot at night - growth pretty much stops. But also, growth stops on any afternoon when the temperature rises above about 85, whether it is for an hour or 4 or 5 hours.

So, the more hours with of those sorts of temperatures, the slower the growth.

Well stink!! I guess that explains why I haven't seen much growth then!! LOL

Tomorrow the high is 95, then Thursday 90, Friday 84, Saturday 86, Sunday the high is 90... and the rest of the week (so far) looks like it's supposed to be in the mid to upper 80s! Maybe we will get some actual spring weather!! They also have a 50% chance of rain on Monday!! WOOO!! It's so strange to be looking forward to a Monday!! LOL

I'm just going to keep watering... and hope for the best!!
