We have pawpaws that grows wild here. I don't know the variety but the are really good if you can catch them at peak ripness. When they start to turn from green to yellow green, are a little spongy and pull away from the tree easily.

I really hope your pawpaw does well for you, they are a unique treat. Most people, wouldn't even recognize a pawpaw if they were looking straight at it, let alone think about trying one.
