I wanted to add that I bought a cherry pitter at WalMart that has places for 6 cherries at a time. It REALLY saved me time, and ran about $13.00 :D
Saved me from asking. Just picked a bunch and hand pitted. Crisp and jelly better be worth it.

Bay, since we have to tough out winter, watch u eat vegetables while our gardens are just getting started, it is only right.

For those that want cherries faster and don't mind tart cherries, I recommend cherry bushes.

I have 3 of these cherry bushes http://www.gurneys.com/nanking-bush-pie-cherry-tree/p/08502/ and I have a Stella sweet cherry tree. It is 4 years old this year. Two years ago it had 2 cherries and the birds got it. Last year it it had 6 and the birds got 5. I cut the 1 cherry in half and shared with DH. It was an amazing cherry. This year nothing, but it is not suppose to have any until 7 years old. I just read on this website that they cannot sell to ID. I must have got mine soon enough. I cannot order garlic or onion plants. I can only get certain types of potatoes and now cherry trees! I am sure there are other things too. Just checked and cannot order a peach tree, a nut tree, and no more apple trees.
