At least one will be rubbed down with a nice BBQ rub then coated with sauce, and another will probably receive cajun injections at least 12 hours before the hot oil therapy.

Does anybody know if the difference in the wing feathers is any indication of gender?

We think the one in the first picture is female and the second picture is male.

Any thoughts on this anybody? :hu

It's those wing feathers that have me wondering. In the second picture they stick out from both wings and don't lay flat. I guess time will tell.

They sure are growing fast.:)

Do turkeys get 'angel wing'? I've seen pictures of lots of ducks and geese with it.

i don't know if looking at the thickness of the legs helps at all, but that is one method i would use on my chickens when they were too young to tell. i also looked at the curve of the beak from the side, a 'hook' like beak was usually male while a long straight beak was female. wing growth was another indicator.

i'm thinking the first pic will be your hen and the second could be your tom. but don't quote me on that! i have a 50/50 shot at getting this right! :p

We have never raised turkeys but I have always wanted to. One thing I have read is that you have to be careful about cross contamination between chickens and turkeys. Turkeys are vulnerable to a disease that chickens carry that will kill a turkey. They are very dumb and will trample each other if frightened.
