At least one will be rubbed down with a nice BBQ rub then coated with sauce, and another will probably receive cajun injections at least 12 hours before the hot oil therapy.
i don't know if looking at the thickness of the legs helps at all, but that is one method i would use on my chickens when they were too young to tell. i also looked at the curve of the beak from the side, a 'hook' like beak was usually male while a long straight beak was female. wing growth was another indicator.
i'm thinking the first pic will be your hen and the second could be your tom. but don't quote me on that! i have a 50/50 shot at getting this right!
Here's something to be squeemish about. I was buying chicken and horse feed Friday, and ending up also buying the 2 one month old Buff Orpington roosters that nobody wanted. They were $1/each. I'm gonna grow them for another month...for dinner. MWA HA HA!!!!
We have never raised turkeys but I have always wanted to. One thing I have read is that you have to be careful about cross contamination between chickens and turkeys. Turkeys are vulnerable to a disease that chickens carry that will kill a turkey. They are very dumb and will trample each other if frightened.
