That little 8 x 20 tunnel?
There should be one of these for every family of 4, don't you think ? Since we are an "empty nest" family of 2 - Yes, we do sell our produce at the farmers' market . But, you could only make this so small before losing a lot of its heat retention qualities - maybe half the length, 8 x 10. Little hoopies are only of limited use.
Keep in mind that the crops "kick in" at least 2 months before anything is ready out of doors. It works out something like that, anyway. I transplant out of the greenhouse into the tunnel with some plants and out of the tunnel into the open garden with others. So, some of those plants aren't heading directly into the kitchen. With additional direct-seeding into the open garden, we have Asian greens for months and months !
. . . and this is NOT the best climate for Asian greens. If everything was direct-seeded in the open ground, the harvest would be measured maaaybe - as about 3 weeks. Then I can get a couple weeks maaaaybe at the end of summer. It is too arid in this part of the world.
I never got away with growing Napa cabbage (Brassica campestris subsp. napus var. pekinensis ), outdoors. Humidity requirements, apparently . . .
