That's where I recommend retirement to everyone who gardens. I can work in bits and pieces with breaks when needed. The heat has always bothered me as an adult. For me, I figured it was weight added to the heat and humidity. I still prefer early and late gardening and avoiding the worst of the heat, but I've found the heat doesn't bother me as much as it used to. I can also work in the garden despite the dew since I have the raised beds.

We get the same heat and humidity as you, so lucky, but not as high as often as you do. It is important to take care of yourself while you garden. A sick gardener isn't going to get outside to work either, you know. Take care!

Been raining every day here for a couple three weeks now...big and heavy rains. Everyone's hay and gardens are doing great here because of it, combined with the unseasonably hot and humid weather, which is more like August weather than June weather.

Good for the gardens! Can't say I'm a fan of the hot and humid for my own personal comfort, but I'm still glad the garden is taking hold.

I can't even get to the garden long enough to weed it. I' m not even sure I will get the chance to weed this coming week! Supposed to rain most of the week again! :barnie:hide I can't even really tell where the plants are for the weeds! :(

I had to go shopping for Ava's birthday presents and for some things she needed for camp today. There was no getting out of it. And wouldn't you know it, it didn't rain today! This is my luck. o_O

Don't feel too bad....drove past many gardens this weekend with the same problem. Really nice gardens...but taken over by the weeds. That's one problem with using tilling between the rows to keep the weeds down, when it rains this much a person can't get a tiller into the garden at all for all the mud here in WV...not much sandy soil here.

Shoot, I can't even walk in our garden because of the mud. Don't even think about trying to get the tiller in there. :'( I hope I can get out there sometime this week and get it cleaned out.

I made the command decision to weed this weekend-& every muscle is telling me about it. Got about 1/2 of garden #1 done and corn patch will just have to wait. It was either pack the soil and weed or let the weeds have it. I chose attack! Had to replant watermelons and beets as weeds got them or they didn't come up. It was (& is still) a mess.

Lovin' this BTE method long about now...any weeds in sight are tiny and easily expelled and right next to the plants but nothing in the rows or empty spaces. I've been on them like a duck on a June bug this year and they've been pulled when they poke up their little heads.

I have one persistent weed I've dealt with for the past three years and have not been able to identify...never seen it before in my gardening life. I've looked and looked at common garden weed pics but can't find it there. This year, I think I've got it under control and it feels pretty good.
