Your garden looks great!

That's exactly how I learned everything I know about gardening, from my grandparents, although there are some things I just can't get the hang of! It's great knowledge that everyone should learn. Gardening is one of the most fulfilling things you could do and always keeps you engaged in the process of where everything comes from.

Good luck to you and please keep us posted.

Thanks, Lynn! Im sure she does. She's the brains and Im the legs & arms, lol. We work at it together, but her arthritis is so bad that she can barely pull weeds by hand anymore. I dont, and Im really suprised. Rizzle, CB, Rizzie, no-name and the chicks run free so they could get in there whenever they want, but they havent yet. Rizz got attacked today BTW, he was causing trouble and the dog didnt agree! He's ok, just missing a couple feathers. My ducks, on the other hand, keep finding their way in there! The parents cant, but the ducklings have discovered that they can walk right through the fence and get in!

Thanks, Coopy! I really appreciate your comments. I blame it on my faith & my family. (Cant really say blame because Im not ashamed, I love how my life has turned out) I was taught to be productive in life, so instead of following everyone else and getting drunk and doing drugs, I grow stuff! :D

Thanks, OCF! I've been pretty good with what they've taught me. My grandma taught me all about gardening and my grandpa taught me all about poultry, so it was a win/win situation. Not only do we grow veggies, we also have many fruit trees and berry vines, so my grandma has taught me my whole life how to prune, what needs what and so on. Its great to know that my grandma puts her trust in me when she's not available to do something. Thanks again.

:coolsun Wow! What a pretty garden you have going there!

Woo- Wee if you did all that by hand I bet you'd be a dangerous young man with a roto tiller! :)

Keep up the fabulous work and tell your grandparents that alot of people think they have an exceptional grandson!

Thanks, Lea! Haha, I really hate the tiller, so I just use a shovel. My dad went over it with the tiller after I dug it all because I had walked on it as I dug it, but I hate that thing. Thank you, I really appreciate your nice comments.

Hi OEGBirdman, Good Morning!

I've just woken up & seen your post with all the great photos. I'm incredibly impressed at what you have achieved (and only using a shovel)! I think you must be a very special person, as your grand-parents are. What wonderful knowledge they have passed on to you. I think there is often a very special bond between grandparents & a grandchild. Certainly I learnt a huge amount from my grandmother, she was the special person in my life. She used to live out in the country & I was often sent to her during World War 2 for safety reasons -- they were some of the happiest months of my life! I was very young but she included me in everything she did, setting up my own little work-station next to hers when she did her chores, so I could copy her. Unfortunately she died when I was 12 --I would love to be able to tell her how grateful I have been all my life for what she taught me. She was a great gardener & could get cuttings to take of nearly everything she touched. I obviously learnt well from her as I have great luck with them now & I'm always taking them for friends when they admire shrubs & flowers in my garden.

I'm sure your grandma is proud of you, tell her congratulation on doing such a great job. CONGRATULATIONS to you as well for being so determined to stick to the important values in life -- they will bring you much joy & fulfillment :thumbsup :rainbow-sun

My love of gardening came from my mother, who learned it from her grandmother - my great grandmother, who I can still see in my mind's eye bending over with her knife harvesting rhubarb from her huge garden on the shores of the St. Clair River in Michigan. Big Gramma (who was all of 4'10") spent her hours in the garden or in the kitchen, putting up the harvests she made and cooking up delicious butterscotch lollypops - she was a wonderful woman. I so wish she was around today, but she died long ago, when I was ten, in her garden, and that's the way we should all go - at a ripe old age, of course!

Hattie and Jordan, thank you for sharing your stories about your grandparents. They are so precious!

Awesome garden. I feel for you cause I had to dig up my garden all buy myself. No one would help me and I am 30. You should get a ton of fresh veggies this year. Mulching should help with the weeds.
