No snow here in the fall and not much in the winter for that matter. And I had not thought about the rain (probably just punch few holes in it for drainage) or extending the season in the fall. How much earlier before our last frost would you plant?

That would be scary! My accidental trellis of cukes, melons, squash, etc. turned out much better. Perhaps it was the GRASSY walkway that made butt-scooting a far better time for me.
