First, if you know someone who has cut trees before, enlist that person's help. I have a friend who took down several trees for me. He and his dad used to cut on their property while growing up and he was very safe about it, dropping a maple tree onto two blue spruce which were planted in the wrong place.
Here is my suggestion, of course, per tree. Do NOT cut down more than one tree/day. It is a chore, and people get hurt with power tools when they are tired.
Take a ladder and a reciprocating saw and saw off as many small branches as possible. Then, with your chain saw at waist level, cut a 70 degree cut 1/2 way through the trunk, then a straight cut to meet up with the first cut, remove the triangular piece, THEN cut straight through from the other side and the first cut will make it fall away from you. A chain saw should take care of the rest of it.
