I have bathroom sink vented through a bearing wall. Years ago, the kitchen sink was on that wall.

It occurs to me that there may be two vents very close together through the roof near its peak. That's probably not a very good situation.

It might explain why the kitchen door into the utility room does not fit properly - level and square are off. And, that is "more off" than other parts of this 100+ year old house.

It's a shame in that 3 of the kitchen walls have a mural on the upper 18" painted by a local artist, probably 50 years ago. There was quite a write-up about him in the newspaper at the time of his death. Unfortunately, the plaster is cracking behind his painting on that wall.

Nyboy, do the areas feel wet? If not, maybe it could be some substance on the walls under the current layer of paint. Actually, even if they do feel damp, it still could be an underneath application attracting moisture. Are the walls plaster? Maybe the previous owner had cracks along that level and tried filling them, sloppily, then painted over. My parents had a dark patch on one of their walls. It came through all layers of paint. There was an explanation, but I don't remember what it was now. Not a ghost.

No water pipes in attic new very expensive roof 3 maybe 4 years ago. does have a AC / heat vent but so do every other room
Had a thought about the new roof. Make sure you have adequate venting. You never know about the quality of work from someone that you hire unless you know them well. Adding an attack fan is pretty inexpensive and might do the trick.
