My made a double decker carrot cake for my mom for her birthday one really hot summer and as I was carrying the cake from my car down to the picnic table, the top melted and slid off!

My old lad enjoyed his day yesterday, we had a little sun after weeks of wind and rain.

My poor dogs are finally sleeping soundly after a night of unease.

Gotta give my tiny 17 yr old chihuahua credit for braving the sleet and howling winds to use the outdoor bathroom facilities, providing moral support for the chicken sheltie to follow. The little one is a southern belle, having lived the majority of her years in Texas and then S. Carolina before coming to live with me here in the far north 3 yrs ago. She deserves a medal for bravery and adaptability. If I were 84 years old and weighed but 10 pounds, no way would I go out into this frozen hellscape!

Do you have any other options? Most of our bitter winter winds come from the west, and I can let my dog, Eva, out the front, east facing door.
