The problem I have is that my rat patrol (half wild cats) keeps eating my alligator lizards. They are the only local predator that keeps the snails under control.

Rat patrol. I like that. While I appreciate what the cats are doing to keep the rabbit, chipmunk, field mouse, rat, gopher, etc population down, I don't like that they prefer my attic and the woodshop attic to the comfy beds DS provided them. The smell of cat is not something I enjoy.

I had a large number of semi wild cats around thanks to one woman. When the coyotes moved in number of cats dropped to only a few. It has been days since I seen one, there might be none left. I have noticed numbers of chipmunks like I never seen before.

Good comeback but it is Thistlebloom you want to get. Nyboy avoids using punctuation in his posts in an effort to get his words down and his ideas flowing. I'm the retired educator in the gang. I try to avoid commenting on misspellings and punctuation errors just 'cuz the people are so friendly and the info is useful.

What Nyboy said (or meant to say) was, "Red (that's me), people with pet snakes feed them dead mice or rats." Anyone can have snakes except for folks like Nyboy. He never quite got his head out of THE GARDEN, and we know how dangerous the Serpent was there.
I was just funning, I don't want to "get" anyone. Didn't mean to offend or upset anyone. I guess i will just stick to my posts.

@CrazyFeathers, check your "red people" post, Nyboy gave it a LIKE. Nope, no one upset or hurt feelings at all. We do a lot of friendly teasing on this site from time to time -- especially in the winter when we northerners are stuck gardening in catalogs and drooling at the southerners are gloating and posting their garden pix.

Go ahead and stick to your posts, just remember to stick a bit of fun in from time to time. Certainly for a newbie, the mention of red people was worthy of your question. Made me laugh!

@CrazyFeathers you are from the North. None of us Good 'OL Yankees cause any problems. The trouble makers are the dang southerners (and one adopted southerner from way out west). There is one trouble makers posting pix of weed free garden that looks to be 10 acres large with him enjoying fresh vegetables.....

While snakes will never be my friend, as long as they leave mine alone and are non poisoness, my attitude will be live and let live.

I can't believe you guys are killing garden snakes. :smack
Send them here, they eat grasshoppers! Poor little picked on critters...

Seed is right, @CrazyFeathers , those of us northern types are peace lovers through and through.
We do appreciate a joke though, even when we are the target.. (Well, most of us do, ...)

@Smart Red hung a target on my name I noticed. :frow Feel free to take potshots! :D It's all in good fun.

Tsk, Tsk, Thistle, here I am the peacemaker and you speak of targets? I am cut to the quick! "Alas, poor Yorik", surely you jest. Only if you make a target of yourself would I suggest taking potshots. No way I want a moose head on my pillow!

(Where's that emoticon with the halo?)
