Steve, it is so hard for me to believe that you will still get a crop in this late. Your season just seems so short.

Here's the "thing," Mary . . . but, it is not the only "thing:"

The Weather Service keeps track of accumulated warmth during the growing season. It is mostly for farming purposes. Usually, it is done at their major weather stations. So . . . San Francisco, by October 15th, has a norm of 2284 Growing Degree Days. Spokane (my nearest weather station), by October 15th, has a norm of 2295 Growing Degree Days. With a much longer growing season in San Francisco, the 2 communities have virtually the same accumulated warmth by that date.

I hope I didnt sound like my first squash ever !! I meant to say the my first crop for this summer ! I usually get tomatoes first, but the squash beat to it ! :weight
