I have been looking but can't find a good place to buy grain seeds. I would like to grow some grains for my poultry. Barley, Milo, Mullet, safflower, sunflower, buckwheat...
Anyone know of a great site to buy these kinds of seeds?

I just bought orgnic buckwheat, barely, oats, and wheat from Fedco Seeds. I have a lot more than I plan on using. Let me know if you want some.

One of our local family owned feedstores sells those and others by the lb (you scoop from a bin). I don't suppose that is too common though as most other places I've seen it you have to buy enough to plant a whole field. Might not hurt to call around and ask though.

Our feedstore sells small amounts too, they just open a sack and sell you whatever you want. So I would ask around at your feedstores.

(Suggest asking for millet, not mullet, btw, as the latter is a fish or a haircut LOL)

Good luck, have fun,

Pat

Fedco is a great place to do business.

If you are just wanting to plant 100 square feet or so of these things - Johnny's probably has everything you are looking for. I bought their Highlander foxtail millet and Black Tip wheat, probably over 10 years ago and save seed from a small planting each year. I've also grown Johnny's carthamus (safflower). My black oil sunflowers came originally from a birdseed mix.

My hens don't seem to mind that some of these things were meant to be ornamentals in someone's landscaping and not their dinner :p.

Another good place is "Seeds of Change", they have cover crops too. For grains they offer barley, oats, buckwheat, triticale, "pearl millet" (I don't know if this is what you were looking for), sorghum-sudangrass, and winter rye AND they sell it in small quantities like 1/4 lb for $2.29.
Birdseed is good too
