Wow Carol 13 and squirrel hunting, time sure flys by. The squirrels we have in our neck of the woods aren’t near that big.

Before you know it Thomas will be 13 ! They grow up much too fast. Yes. It was a nice FAT well fed Squirrel.

No fried squirrel for you, huh? My grandmother used to fry up a big platter of squirrel, including the heads. While I enjoyed the rest of the squirrel, I never could get past those orange teeth or cracking open the skull to eat the brains.

That squirrel is HUGE!!!! Like Collector, we don't have them that big out here. The fur could be pieced together for something to wear.

Fox Squirrel, I'm guessing ...
It's strange that I have eaten squirrel. I thought it tasted like venison. It was a Western Grey Squirrel.
I moved here and there were Pine Squirrels in the forest but we were not supposed to shoot them. They are small and red. The grey squirrel in almost every dang community (including my yard
), is the Eastern Grey Squirrel. An invader! Some places have the Fox Squirrel. @Collector , if you want to see those - go down to Asotin. (Maybe they are in other towns.) Some of the people who live in Asotin aren't real happy that somebody released them in town probably 100 years ago.
The Western Grey Squirrel lives in the Cascades and Coast Range. It doesn't like people and neither does the Pine Squirrel, I guess.

Sure looks like a fox squirrel to me. Growing up in the ridges of East Tennessee they were really rare. I might see one a year, I might not. Practically all I saw were Eastern Grey.
